Dr. Lary Trites has been a respected general dentist for 43 years, serving communities across the Maritime provinces with dedication, compassion, and clinical excellence. He began his academic journey at Mount Allison University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science (BSc Honours). During this time, he also completed the Naval Reserve Officer Training Program (NROTP), graduating as a reserve Maritime Surface (MARS) Officer. Dr. Trites completed both his Master of Science (MSc, 1984) and Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS, 1986) at Dalhousie University.
Dr. Trites has been an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) for 37 years. He has played an important role in organizing continuing education for dentists throughout the Atlantic provinces. Today, he proudly serves as President of the Atlantic Provinces AGD and Regional Director for Western Canada (Region 16). In 2023, he was honoured with the prestigious AGD Emeritus status, recognizing his outstanding commitment to the profession.
In 1986, Dr. Trites opened his private practice in Sackville, New Brunswick, where he cared for patients for 34 years. For 9 of those years, he also provided dental services to inmates at the Dorchester Penitentiary. Alongside his private practice, he served for 15 years in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve Dental Platoon. Driven by a passion for education and community outreach, Dr. Trites has recently been travelling throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, delivering accessible dental care to underserved communities.
He is excited to announce that he will be returning to Sackville in January 2026 to join the Allison Hill Dental Clinic. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Trites enjoys skiing, curling, golfing (especially with classmates from the Dalhousie Class of ’86), and spending time on his tractor.
