Kathleen Trites

IRDH

Kathleen Trites is a highly experienced dental hygienist with over 39 years of clinical practice in Sackville, New Brunswick. She began her academic journey at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education in 1984 with a focus on nutrition and healthy lifestyles. She went on to complete Dalhousie’s Dental Hygiene program from 1984 to 1986, graduating with Honours in Clinical Practice.

Kathleen joined her husband, Dr. Lary Trites, in their private general dental practice in Sackville, where she built a distinguished career delivering compassionate, patient-centred care. Her clinical focus has long been in periodontal therapy, where she is known for her diagnostic precision and dedication to solving complex cases. She has cared for generations of families, offering comprehensive hygiene services for patients of all ages.

Beyond the operatory, Kathleen has been an active leader in organized dentistry. She served as President of the New Brunswick Dental Hygiene Association for three years and held various board roles for several more years. In recognition of her exceptional service, she was awarded a Life Membership in 2010. She also represented New Brunswick on the national stage, serving as a provincial delegate for three years.

Now looking toward the next chapter in her career, Kathleen returned in 2023 to support her husband, Dr. Lary Trites, in his locum general dental practice in Saint John, Amherst, and Woodstock. During this time, she continued to provide high-quality dental hygiene care as part of the team. Since July 2024, Kathleen has been practicing independently as an IRDH in Sackville, and she eagerly anticipates welcoming her husband to join her hygiene practice in January 2026.
